Scout Camp
To finish off a fun-filled summer of activities at Scouts we held our first camp in a long time with lots of very excited young people at Snowball Plantation. We arrived on a Monday night the first week of the summer holidays. The Scouts got straight on with setting up camp and putting up the tents for the next couple of nights. Shortly followed by essential water and wood collecting before settling in for the evening.
Tuesday morning was a bright and early one. We had breakfast and after they had tidied away and cleaned themselves up they went straight into the morning’s activity.
We had been working on our rope and pioneering skills a lot over the summer term.
So, we decided to make use of the large pioneering poles on the main arena to build a crane to lift something small.
After lunch we gave them a challenge to build a woodland shelter that would keep them dry as it was a bit of a wet day. Challenge accepted and oh how they rose to the challenge putting everything they had learnt within Scouting and completing it with an exceptional shelter to be proud of.
Tuesday Evening and it was time for the Scouts to cook tea for everyone. They made spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread with chocolate log with custard and I can tell you it was perfect! We finished off the evening with smores done over the campfire.
On Wednesday morning we had breakfast and headed to the arena to play some team games. Before heading back to put away our belongings ready to pack up the campsite and head home with some very tried Scouts and Leaders.
Each and everyone of us had a fantastic time and it was much needed for our section. Can’t wait for the next one.
