About Us
Stockton on the Forest has had Scouting in the village since 1969, steadily growing over the years. Situated in the heart of the village, we have established strong ties within the community by regularly attending Remembrance Sunday at the local church and running events like the Scarecrow Festival and Christmas fairs.
We are proud to be part of one of the largest youth organisations in the world. Scouting was brought to life by one man’s vision, Lord Baden Powell, who established the Scouting movement in 1908. The mission of the organisation is to enhance and support all young people, being inclusive to all.
At Stockton on the Forest we strongly believe in the stepping-stone effect, with each section teaching skills that are built with every step taken through Scouting, preparing them for adulthood with #SkillsForLife.
We believe that #SkillsForLife can prepare better futures:
- for young people – by giving them the character, employability and practical skills they need to succeed
- for volunteers – by equipping them with better skills, tools and support to deliver inspiring programmes
- for society – by bringing people together and improving the lives of those in our communities.
Scouting is a purely volunteer-based organisation and through the hard work and commitment of these amazing people it has been running for over 100 years.
“You’re changing our society for the better from the inside out – an unstoppable force for good – and we’re only just getting started.”
— Bear Grylls, Cheif Scout
