Scouts

Scouts is open to members aged between 10 ½ and 14 years old.

Scout activities are based around the 9 Challenge badges that form part of the Chief Scout Gold award, the highest award a Scout can achieve. The 9 badges revolve around developing new Skills, taking part in many Adventures and outdoor Expeditions, learning how to take care of nature and the outdoors, taking time to consider others in our World, and learning how to think Creatively.

We see Scouts as a time to promote individuality, self-worth and self-esteem through a dynamic and engaging program of fun and exciting activities, from camps and hikes, to kayaking and climbing, and much, much more.

Within Scouts we strive to promote independence by teaching skills of self-reliance and allowing for the freedom to make mistakes in a controlled and safe space, thus allowing young people to learn valuable #SkillsForLife.

Our Scouts meet on a Thursday evening between 7:30pm and 9:00pm.

Scouts uniform and badge placement

Scouts wear a uniform during their weekly meetings and sometimes on trips away, depending on where they’re going and what they’re doing. Usually, this consists of a teal green shirt or blouse with their badges sewn on, which they pair with a scarf, known as a necker.

Below is an image that will help you with the placement of badges on your Scout uniform.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
