Group Scout Leaders Commendation
The Group Scout Leaders Commendation is awarded to members of Stockton on the Forest Scout Group for far surpassing expectation. This is not something that is awarded lightly, and to have two members nominated in 2019/20 is outstanding.
Ollie and George both received the Group Scout Leaders Commendation at our Annual General Meeting.
They were nominated by both their Section Leader Ash, and Interim Section Leader J, for their exceptional work during Ash’s absence. They both assisted in running the section in ways far beyond expectations, and their commitment, dedication, and passion were clear for all to see. Couple that with their respect for a new interim leader, and their confidence in leading really showed their true Scouting values.”
“During the previous 2 years I have had the pleasure of being the Young Leader Trainer for York Minster District and during this time both Ollie and George have been outstanding role models for youth leadership in Scouting. They have demonstrated, on numerous occasions, a real sense of commitment to the training activities which has clearly shown up in their leadership support in the Cub Section back at Stockton on the Forest Scout Group. Their personal confidence has grown, as has their ability to be effective young leaders for the Scout Association; I feel sure they will continue on this development path and move into being excellent adult leaders at Stockton or wherever they end up in their lives,
Well done Ollie and George.”- Simon Errington (Acting District Commissioner York Minster District)
Nathan and Kath went to visit these two individuals to present these awards, following all social distancing, rules of course!
We knew we needed to get these awards into the hands of these two fantastic individuals, and, never being a pair to miss an opportunity to cause chaos and put a smile
on peoples’ faces, we chose to go somewhat over the top on the required PPE for such a meeting. Needless to say, I think both were shocked to see the precautions we had taken!
